In a bold act of faith, Getulius resigned his commission, choosing to follow Jesus rather than the imperial standards of Rome. He retired to his estates near Tivoli, where he lived with his wife, Saint Symphorosa, and their seven sons, later known as the Seven Martyrs of Tivoli. Together, they created a home centered on Christian values, nurturing a family dedicated to God.

Getulius’ conversion was not a quiet one. Alongside another companion, Primitivus, they joined Getulius in standing firm for their newfound faith.

Undeterred, their persecutors resorted to clubbing them to death, sealing their martyrdom on the Salarian Way near Rome.

Getulius’ martyrdom was not the end of his family’s witness. His wife, Saint Symphorosa, and their seven sons would later face their own trials, each offering their lives for Christ.
